Templeton win the McCarthy Trophy......

After losing a early goal Temps set about recovering and played some good football. With a goal before half time Temps felt that they could do better, and with a hat trick, Deary had them on the trail. With Malcolmson adding to the score line Temps finished with King Park scoring with the last kick of the game. An enjoyable competition which will go some way to gauge Temps for the new season.

Lennox AFC 1 V Templeton 2

20th August 2005

League

Templetons started the new season against Lennox away. Right from the kick off the football was good on the deck and both teams looked to have enjoyed a good pre season. Within 10 minutes Dearie had scored for Temps and the first half continued with some excellent football from Templetons but only a further goal from Kennedy to show the difference. Half time arrived with several good chances scorned but the entertainment was very good. In the 2nd half a bad pass from midfield led to another well taken goal this time from Lennox. Now it was Templetons turn to have the pressure but slowly the football returned as the team dug in and once again scoring chances were not taken, this kept the pressure on Temps until the final whistle. A very good win against a good Lennox team who will surely do well this season.

Man of the Match : Steven McDevitt. Goals. Dearie/Kennedy.

Bannerman 2 V Templeton 3

24th August 2005

League

Templetons continued their good form by scoring within minutes of this first meeting of the newly promoted Bannerman. Mulligan scored in a first half that saw the Temps looking comfortable in control with football being played on the deck again. This was followed by a goal by Algie Reilly, his first of the season, and then Dearie getting on the score sheet. These 3 will be pushing for top goalscorer this year. With McDevitt controlling the game and Kennedy assisting Temps looked to be cruising but Bannerman got a goal back and with minutes to go a 2nd.No doubt after the management had their say the Temps will have to learn to continue to push teams and not take their foot off during a game. A good win for Templeton to keep them pushing for the top spot.

Man of the Match : Steve mcDevitt. Goals. Mulligan/Reilly/Dearie.

 Templeton 3 V Partick West 1

27th August 2005

League

Templetons first home game against another newly promoted team, Partick West. These 2 teams matched each other in a first half that saw the best chances fall to West. Slowly Temps took control and with Mcdevitt again outstanding and supported by players around Reilly popped up to score his 2nd in the same games. This was followed by Mulligan scoring again and it has to be said these goals were well made and executed. A penalty for West was missed by them in the second half before Reilly scored again with another well made goal from a cross. Temps had a penalty which was saved by the West goalie but in a very good game Templeton finished off well and comfortable. Not the best they have played but to win 3-1  says a lot for this young team against another good 2nd division team.Templeton are now top of the league after their first 3 games.Dumbarton at the Green on Wednesday.

Man of the Match : Steve mcDevitt. Goals. Reilly (2)/Mulligan/

 Templeton 2  V Dumbarton 2

31st August 2005

League

Templetons went into this home game trying to gain back the style and football they know they can produce. Dumbarton again had a team that looked different with some "A" team members looking a possibility. Nevertheless Temps went into the lead through Queenie and also missed a penalty, the 2nd in a row. Temps were pushed by Dumbarton who were more physical and stronger and even when Algie Reilly scored a 2nd it was not enough for the Temps as with the last minutes ticking again Dumbarton equalised. A point at home will be hard for the team to accept but until they finish off teams and retain their defensive poise they will continue to lose slack goals.

Man of the Match : Gordon Mitchell. Goals. Queen/Reilly.

 Weir Rec 3  V Templeton 1

3rd September 2005

League

Templetons started off well against Weirs and to be honest they looked good to win the points. Good football saw a couple of chances but both keepers were rarley in action as the defences were solid. In the first half there were a few chances but both teams snuffed each other out. In the 2nd half a break on the wing by Kennedy saw the cross hit home by Reilly. A second chance followed but went passed the post. If Temps could get a 2nd it would be over and done we thought. Within minutes Weirs corner let their sub score with a header. A rare mistake from the defence let Weirs in to go 2-1 ahead and then the shape of Templetons crumbled. Weirs scored a 3rd in the last minute as Templetons chased the equaliser and finished 3-1. The best team won on the day where Templetons should have beaten Weirs in the 90.

Man of the Match : Matthew Campbell Goals. Reilly.

  Templeton 4 Cambuslang 0

10th September 2005

League

Templetons had to bounce back against top of the table Cambuslang after last weeks preformance. In the first 25 minutes the honours looked even with both midfields taking control then Malcomson popped up to score his first goal f the season. This was quickly followed by another well made goal from Joe and Mulligan also added to the scoresheet. Temps at this point were rampant and crushing Cambuslang with superb football. It was hard to see where this could be bettered then Malcomlson scored another for his hat trick. In between this feat Chuckie in goals had a match winning save from a free kick. The 2nd half brought more chances but no more goals. On a day where all players were fantastic it was hard to pick the man of the match. Templeton go back to the top of the table and if this form continues then this team will be hard to play against. Fantastic Temps, more of the same please........

Man of the Match : Martin Lennox. Goals. Malcolmson (3)/Mulligan.

Partick West 1 Templeton 4

17th September 2005

League

Templetons went head to head with Partick West knowing a win would keep them top of the league. In a first half spell West could have been ahead with good chances squandered. Temps midfield started to control the game through Mulligan,McD and Kennedy.Following a shot on goal Campbell turned the ball goalwards for the 1st. This was followed by an own goal. Half time saw Templeton push forward and with a good move from the wings the ball was in the net with a great chip from Campbell again. This was followed by a spell from West pushing Temps back and gaining a goal. The difference was then re established with a goal from Reilly.A good win which put Temps in control again at the top of the league. Good form this week from Mulligan and Mitch with Queenie and Malcolmson working hard.

Man of the Match : Matthew Campbell. Goals. Campbell (2)/Reilly.

Dumbarton 1 Templeton 3

1st October 2005

League

Templetons started the game with both teams looking to gauge the other a very good Dumbarton team pushed the Temps defence. Few chances were given as both defences were in command. Following a cross and a failed Dumbarton clearance Malcomson score a scrappy but important goal. This seemed to settle Temps who had Kennedy,Mcd and Queenie with Mulligan pulling the strings.A long ball from Mitch to Dearie turned the defence and the cross was met by Malcomson to score a fantastic goal. The 3rd followed by some excellent footwork from Malcomson to push the ball out of the keepers reach. The 2nd Half saw the defence under pressure with the wind assisting in long balls being pressed on to the Temps defence, but Campbell and Charters along with the introduction of Gallacher took the pressure with only 1 goal lost. Dumbarton are a good team who will take points but Templeton were to good on the day.

Man of the Match : Joe Malcolmson. Goals. Malcolmson (3).

Rothesay 1 Templeton 2

8th October 2005

West of Scotland Cup

Templeton's first game in the West of Scotland Cup competition was against a Rothesay side who are not beaten at home easily. The first 20 minutes of this rainy and windy day seen both teams hold midfield with Temps Mcd , Mulligan and Kennedy pulling the strings. Up front Dearie and Malcolmson were probing the Rothesay defence. As half time approached Malcolmson scored to give Temps the edge. In the 2nd Half a mistake by the goalkeeper allowed Anderson to head Temps clear. Rothesay pushed but the defence of Mitch and  Queenie , with an outstanding performance from Graham and Charters kept Chuckies goal protected. A late goal shows the game closer but Templeton had the chance to win 5 or 6 with the chances going wide. At the end of the game a Queenie header off the line was the difference between the teams. Templeton play Gourock Athletic away in the next round. Templeton's are getting harder to beat every week.

Man of the Match : Eddie Dearie. Goals. Malcolmson/Anderson.

Strathclyde 2 Templeton 3

16th October 2005

League

Templeton's went back to league duty this week against Strathclyde Uni. In a very even game defence and midfield were dominant. Uni had a couple of good chances as well as Templeton. It took a nice interplay in the box for Anderson to open the scoring with an assist from Malcolmson and Dearie.  Gallacher was causing problems on the wing for the Uni and then added to the scoreline by Kennedy with another following from Malcolmson, 3 excellent goals made from quick movement. Kennedy and Mcd with Mulligan in midfield holding well and Mitch, McQueen and Charters solid at the back the only upset was a speculative shot which breached the defence to make for a nervous last 15 minutes. This was broken by a quick 1,2 when the Ref sent off a Uni player from the sideline who firstly thought he could direct the player by using his head to show him the dressing rooms and the player who let the Ref suck his fist for a moment. Never seen anything like this before....... Game over, a good win for Templeton's against a good Uni team. Templeton keep their impressive run on track. Next week Gourock Athletic in the West Cup away.

Man of the Match : Michael Gallacher. Goals Anderson/Kennedy/Malcolmson.

Gourock 1 Templeton 3

22nd October 2005

West of Scotland Cup

Templeton's returned to the coast for the 2nd leg of the West of Scotland Cup against Gourock Athletic. Both teams started off at a 100 mile an hour pace which was to continue across the 90 minutes. Both teams were crisp in tackles and gave little time on the ball. Queenie and Mitch were backing up a solid looking defence with Charters and newly returned Campbell impressive in centre with Mcd and Kennedy with Mulligan pulling the strings. There was a few close misses early in the game for both teams but Temps should have scored from a good few chances. Gallagher popped up on the wing to cut inside and lob the keeper for the first goal of the day. An excellent start for this impressive young player. This was followed by a Kennedy shot from distance which gave Temps a comfortable lead. Malcolmson and Dearie were causing the home defence problems and at this point Chuckie in goals had little to do although Gourock were by no means out of the game. A goal from a corner brought Gourock back into the game to pressure for a while. In the 2nd Half Reilly popped up to finish the scoring and give Temps a 3-1 lead. Gourock pressured Temps well in the 2nd Half but the defence was outstanding even when the subs were brought on in Anderson and Kevin Bell the formation fought for every ball. The game could have been well over except Templeton's had Eddie Van Vossen playing up front who found it easier to put the ball over the bar or past the post. Well done Eddie at least you made the chances yourself. Templeton are now in the 3rd round of the West Cup.

Man of the Match : Danny Charters. Goals. Gallagher/Kennedy/Reilly.

Bannerman 4 Templeton 4

29th October 2005

League Cup

Templeton's played their first game in the League Cup section against Bannerman. The first half never got going as a game due to the Refs persistence in stopping for every infringement. This combined with fights breaking out from the local nobs meant little football. As the 2 teams tried to make the best of it Temps scored through Mitch deflecting a goalward shot. This was followed by Gallagher with a superb chip over the goalie. Bannerman were never out of the game but Temps went further ahead in the 2nd half with a OG from the goalkeeper this was quickly added to by Malcolmson who pounced on a bad clearance to make the score 4-1. Easy street you think,,, not for the team who like to make it hard for themselves. Bannerman scored and with the time running down they scored again. Now Temps were on the rack and holding on, with minutes left another shot found the net and it finished 4-4. It was hard to find a player who rose above the average as we have said before it will do the team good to accept that they have to work for a result and fight like Bannerman. Well done to both teams for a high scoring , level match.

Man of the Match : Gordon Mitchell. Goals. Mitch/Gallagher/OG/Malcolmson.

Blackston 0 Templeton 7

5th November 2005

Scottish Cup

Templeton's game this week was in the Scottish Cup against Blackston United from the Paisley League. The game started well with Temps on the attack from the start, McD, Mulligan and Kennedy were moving the ball well and the defence of Queen, Campbell and Mitch looked comfortable with a solid looking Chuckie in goals and Charters in front. It was not long before Mulligan and Dearie found themselves on the sheet. Each goal seemed to better the previous and with the 2nd half approaching a high score also looked likely. Templeton were far smoother and cleaner than Blackston where their keeper was in fine form. 2nd Half and another couple of fantastic goals from Anderson and a goal from Reilly settled all doubts. Subs Gallagher and Bell with Reilly all caused problems for the defence and with Malcolmson not scoring it opens the goal scorers chart again. Templeton were controlled, positive and deliberate and easily passed to next round of the Scottish Cup. Next week could be the west of Scotland Cup....no rest for the team.....

26th November 2005

West Cup

Templeton's started on a very bitter day against Crosshouse in the West of Scotland Cup. Both teams took time to settle with Templetons making most of the early chances. Malcolmson jumped on the first early chance to give Temps a half time lead. Templeton were playing good football on the ground with Crosshouse pushing from defence. On the turn round of the 2nd half Templetons continued to push with Mcdee and Kennedy assisted with Mulligan pulling the strings, in attack Malcolmson and Dearie with Anderson were probing for more goals. In a quick move from defence to attack Dearie scored a terrific goal followed by his 2nd which was a lob over the keeper, even better. With Graham keeping the Crosshouse forwards at bay and Mitch and Queenie looking solid between Campbell the subs of Reilly,Charters and Bell brought new problems to the opponents. Finally a clearance from their defence saw Reilly collect the ball and from 25 yards hit the top of the net, another cracking goal. Templeton settled to play out the last minutes and cruise to the next round. A good all rounder from Graham in goals through to Reilly with his late goal from a Templeton team who continue to better weekly. The next round of the West of Scotland Cup draw is on the 5th December.

Man of the Match : Eadie Dearie. Goals. Dearie (2)/Reilly/Malcolmson

 Templeton 3 Orchard Park 1

3rd December 2005

League Cup

Templeton's were playing at home the first time in a few weeks against Orchard Park who sit below them in the league. Both teams started well with the defences on top but the initial 10 minutes was broken by a clearance by the goalkeeper and defence who stood and watched a fantastic first time volley from 40 yards from Gallagher straight into the net. A great start for Temps but Park were well up for the game and levelled the score with a well taken shot, the Temps defence was posted missing. With McDevitt and Kennedy again working the middle and assisted with Mitch and Queenie Templeton moved Charters to the middle of the field. This in the 2nd half changed the play and Templeton began to pressure Park with a neat move down the left hand side Dearie scored with a superb shot and before the opponents could recover and added his 2nd and the teams 3rd. Templetons were well in control at the final whistle and now lead the league cup section at this point. Next week Templeton play at home to Melville in the Scottish cup at Glasgow Green.

Man of the Match : Steven McDevitt. Goals. Dearie (2)/Gallagher

 Templeton 9 Meville Rovers 0

10th December 2005

Scottish Cup

Templeton's were at home to Melville Rovers in the Scottish Cup 3rd round. Temps started with some good interchange play which lead to Malcolmson scoring within 10 minutes. This set the trend over the 90 as Templetons totally controlled the game. Paton in goal had a quiet afternoon with Queenie and Mitch alongside Campbell and Charters all playing well. The 2nd goal was from a corner which Mcdee head in, his first of the season, followed by Kennedy. These 2 were outstanding in the midfield. Malcolmson scored again with Dearie adding to his tally for the season. Reilly in the 2nd half hit the for 6. Templetons were controlling all the play and Melville were rarely up the park. Mulligan added 2 for his part and finally Muir finished off for his first of the season. Overall an easy win for Templetons but the pressure continues as they lay Muirend next week at home in the West of Scotland Cup. Excellent play from the team as in the past the have not punished teams and were caught with minutes to go, this time they played for 90 minutes and excelled themselves.

Man of the Match : Michael Kennedy. Goals. Malcolmson (2)/McDevitt/Kennedy/Dearie/Reilly/Mulligan (2)/Muir.

 Templeton 2 Muirend 0

17th December 2005

West of Scotland Cup

Templeton's were up against a Caledonian team in Muirend in the West Cup. Right from the outset both teams played good passing as the ground was very hard due to the cold weather. Templeton's slack passing at the early stages was the only worry with a fantastic stop at the feet of the Muirend forward by Brian Paton. Temps crept into the game with slick passing between the midfield and forwards, and with the 1st half drawing to a close a tightly contested match was even. In the 2nd half a good passing move saw Malcolmson in front of goal and tackled by a Muirend defender...... penalty. Malcolmson strode up and Temps were ahead with the goalie going the wrong way.  Templeton increased pressure was telling and a superb solo effort where Dearie brought the ball down on the wing, cut inside and hit the ball high into the net, what a screamer....2-0. Templetons controlled the game against a very good Muirend team and passed to the next round with some ease. The ref was a little easy with his bookings considering it was a easy handled clean game but overall a fair result for Templeton Albert. Templeton's next game is on the 7th January against Potobello Thistle in the Scottish Cup away.

Man of the Match : Gordon Mitchell. Goals. Malcolmson /Dearie.

 Portobello 1Templeton 0

7th January 2006

 Scottish Cup

Templeton's first game back after the Xmas break was in the Scottish Cup against Portobello Thistle away. With a large crowd travelling with the team the expectation was high for Temps to continue their good run. On a very uneven ground Portobello had the advantage from the start, Both teams played badly in the 1st half with Portobello the better team, Templetons were saved on 3 different occasions by Paton in goal having a super match. The main effort from Templetons in this half was a stone wall penalty when the goalkeeper took Reilly down heading for goals, this started a ridiculous match for the Referee who was the most incompetent official both teams had to endour. No penalty, no booking. In the 2nd half Templeton had by far the greater of the play but with Portobello packing the defence there was no way Templetons would score. As the game progressed the total missed chances amounted to double figures but to give Thistle their due they stuck at it.2 Thistle players were red carded followed by Charters from Templeton, 8 booked also..... this was not a dirty match but the ref was lost. Templetons stuck at it till the very end but to no avail. Templetons run is over in the Scottish but they have done far better than we originally thought and we now can concentrate on our league form. Best wishes to Portobello for the next round and hopefully the Ref will learn a lot and improve if we ever have him again.Man of the match Brian Paton who was excellent on the day, well done Brian.

 Templeton 2 Rannoch B 1

14th January 2006

 League Cup

Templeton's returned to the League Cup section following last weeks Scottish Cup adventure. On a cold day the Templeton team passed the ball and dominated the early stages with Kennedy playing as sweeper and Campbell moving in front with Dearie returning and Gallagher up front and Malcolmson behind them, it was a changed formation. Rarely did Rannoch pressure Templetons and following a foul just outside the box a clever free kick from Gallagher hit the net. Templetons at this point were under no pressure but from a free kick some slack defending and a rare misjudgement by Paton in goal allowed Rannoch to level the score. Half time saw Templetons continue to press Rannoch and play a good passing game with chances missed from varied positions. Rannoch were hard to break down defensively as they strung 8 across the defence. Bell and Queenie with Mitchell were playing well and from a cross from the right Malcolmson rose to head Templetons into the lead again. As the game crept to a finish the subs of Mulligan and Blair came on for the last 20 minutes. Rannoch had a couple of corners but Templetons defence cleared their lines and in the end it was a comfortable win for Templetons who now lead the table in their section. Next week it is back to League duty against Glasgow University away.

Man of the Match : Brian Paton. Goals. Gallagher/Malcolmson

 League

Back to League football for Templeton this week against Glasgow Univ. Straight from the kick off both teams played excellent football in a first half that ended to quickly. Early chances fell to Blair and Dearie with Campbell and Anderson threatening also. The opening goal was a peach by Charters who moved in on the goalie and as he approached Charters squeezed it past into the right hand post, superb goal. This was followed by an equally and similar strike by Dearie for 2-0. Paton in goal had a few good saves to make with Mitch and Queenie solid in defence again.McDevitt was running the show for Templetons in his best game for a few weeks, Kennedy,Bell and Charters were making the midfield theirs with crisp tackles and good passing.Mitchell strode up for the 3rd goal before half time with the best chip over the goalie this year, a brilliant strike to finish for Templetons a good first half. The second half underway the Uni team pushed Templetons all the 2nd half but the team defended well and when the substitutes of Gallagher and Malcolmson replaced the tiring Blair and Dearie. Templetons sparked to life again with Gallagher scoring from a Mulligan run and pass to make the score 4-0.Templeton are top of the league again against a very good Uni side who will take points from other teams this year. Templeton are at home next week to Strathclyde Uni in the League.

Templeton 1 Strath Univ 1

28th  January 2006

 League

Another league game for Templetons at home against a Uni team which contained more imposters than in a west end play, if this is their 2nd team it will be interesting to follow their results from the BOTTOM of this division. Good sportsmanship guys. The game itself started slowly for Temps with individual players playing well in Mitch, Queenie, Mcd and Kennedy with Charters running the midfield, but as a team not pressuring Strathclyde. After 30 minutes Blair hit the crossbar from a header and following this a 30 yard shot from Malcolmson hit the post and bounced clear. The Uni goalkeeper at this stage had a few great saves as Temps settled. Most of the game was in midfield as both keepers and defenders blanked out each others opposite number. As the 1st half ended both teams had played good football but little goal scoring chances with Templeton overplaying in front of goal. The 2nd half underway Strathclyde played the same game of shortening the pitch by playing well up the park and not allowing Temps to win the midfield and with the long ball the favourite for the Uni team a quick 1, 2 from them ended with a lob over a stranded Paton for the 1st goal. Templetons subs of Gallagher, Dearie and Reilly automatically pressured the Uni team and Kennedy moved from the back which for the last 20 minutes caused the Uni team problems. Eventually as miss after miss was counted Dearie popped up with a clever chip over the goalie to level the score. As the minutes counted down Temps could not break through for a winner against a very good University team, as I said it will be interesting to follow their progress. A result that fitted the day with both teams level and man of the match an outstanding McDevitt who is coming up for suspension. Campbell had a cracker with McD but it was just one of those days. Templetons play Bishopton away next week in the league.

Bishopton 2 Templeton 2

4th  February 2006

 League

Templeton were away to Bishopton in their first encounter this year. Following a bad start and demotion last year Bishopton had come back to win their last 5 games and climb the league. Straight from kick of it was clear this would be a good game with sets of players first to the ball but after 10 minutes Dearie caught the defence on the hop with a lightning strike to put Temps in the lead. The Ref at this point was seeming a little bit biased to the home team and Temps were caught within the first half with a silly penalty for a push on a forward as the ball seemed to be going out. Clean hit and the teams were level again. With half time approaching  Templetons had to sub Dearie for Reilly and almost straight away Reilly hit the post! The 2nd Half started with both teams going from end to end in a very entertaining game, even the Ref had settled down by this time and was allowing play to continue, Templetons defence were caught waiting as Bishopton pounced to go 2-1 ahead following another long ball. Kennedy moved to midfield and Graham came on for Charters who had a foot injury and from a corner, Campbell headed over, this was followed by Reilly, Mulligan and Malcolmson all missing chances.Muir was excellent in midfield with Payton in goals having nothing to do but watch. Eventually Malcolmson scored from a Reilly cut back to level the score. A cracker of a match with 2 very good teams my only comment was that Bishopton used to much of the long ball, but played to their strengths. Templetons have another draw which is becoming to often as we push for the league.Man of the match Mark Muir with an impressive display with Dearie and Malcolmson riding high on the goalscorers chart. Templeton play Rannoch at Glasgow Green next week in the league.

Templeton 2 Rannoch 1

11th  February 2006

 League

On a very wet and cold day Templetons lined up against Rannoch in a league game. With suspensions causing a headache for the management team a shuffled team took the park. Muir and Kennedy with Cleary making his 1st appearance. Straight from the off Templetons took control with some slick passing and movement it was all one way traffic. With Rannoch playing 1 man up front it was little entertainment but Temps struggled to find any easy openings, even allowing for their low position the tactics were simply spoiling tactics from Rannoch. With various shots and crosses raining in Templetons struggled to break the oppositions defence and with the goalie having a superb match it seemed if Templetons would never get the break. With less than a minute to go before the break Malcolmson, Wullie Queens nephew,  jumped in the middle to latch onto a cut back from Dearie to make the score 1-0. The 2nd half started the same as the first except the rain lashed the grounds to soak the players and supporters, and similiar to the 1st half Templetons huffed and puffed with over elaborate passing. 20 minutes into the 2nd half Beanzie raced through and strolled the ball into the net, an excellent individual goal from his first start.Rannoch started to push forward and had a good spell with pressure on the Templetons defence. From a speculative cross and header the ball rose over Payton in goal to leave us with a final nervy 15 minutes. Rannoch pressured Templetons but could not score again. If Rannoch had started the game in a similar fashion the result may have been different but it was to late for Rannoch as Templetons won another league game to go top of the league again.man of the match was Kennedy with Muir having another strong game in midfield with Campell and Beanzie playing well. Templetons are again at home next week with the Challenge cup against Orchard Park B.

25th  February 2006

 Challenge Cup

Templeton played their 1st game in the Challenge cup against Orchard B on a bitterly cold day at home. Straight from the kick off Orchard played with 10 men behind the ball which allowed Temps to own the game and control the pace. Moves were controlled up to the opposition half with lots of goalscoring chances falling to the forwards. Blair and Malcolmson with Mulligan had a few chances but a mixture of bad finishing and defensive blocks kept the score level. Muir took a corner and with a wind assisted swerve Temps went ahead. Muir and Kennedy were working hard in midfield with Campbell directing any defensive cover. Mcdermitt was back to his best after suspension. Blair added to Temps lead with his 1st goal for the club and was a constant threat to the away defence. 2nd half started the same with Templetons controlling the game and it was not long before Beanzie popped up for his 1st goal of the day, a excellent combination move to put Templetons at ease. Park came back into the game and caused numerous nose bleeds over the park as they ventured over the half way line!! Some good play by Park presented them with a goal which seemed to sting Temps to action. Another 2 goals from Beanzie for his hat trick put Temps in easy street, Beanzy working very hard for his final goal with running and closing down the Park defence for his reward, well done Beanzie.Templetons are now in the 3rd round with a away game in the league next week against Rannoch. McDevitt was man of the match for a strong, controlled comeback game, well done McD.

Harestanes 0 Templeton 1

11th March 2006

 West of Scotland Cup

Templeton were drawn against the great Harestanes FC who have previously won the West of Scotland Cup twice in recent years. Straight from the kick off Harestanes showed how well organised a team they were by not allowing Templetons any room or time to settle in the first 15 minutes. This allowed  McDevitt, Campbell, Muir and Kennedy to settle in to their rolls. McD hit the midfield area hard with Muir supporting, Campbell, Mitch, Queenie and Kennedy tackled hard and unsettled Harestanes. Dearie and Blair were causing the opposition defence problems while Mulligan and Anderson stretched them on the wings. Dearie had a couple of good chances with Blair assists and after a cross from Templetons was missed by the goalie Campbell bundled the ball into the Harestanes net. Templetons continued to dominate the first half with the Ref ignoring appeals from a couple of penalties strongly challenged by the Harestanes sideline, but the first half ended with both defences on top. In the 2nd half Templetons again attacked, again with Dearie causing problems with his pace and following a corner the Referee awarded a penalty, nobody saw the foul but the Ref signalled for holding.... again this was disputed by the sideline who eventually had someone sent off and with the time wasting Mitch hit the ball over the bar, Saturdays must be fun in this league with the continual complaints...... As the game got underway again Templetons continued to press Harestanes and should have been in a comfortable lead but even after the sending off of Mark Muir due to pressure from the sideline Templetons were even more determined not to allow Harestanes back into the match. McDevitt had the midfield tied up with Campbell and Kennedy holding . Subs in Reilly, Charters freshened up the side and Templetons played out the last minutes without any great pressure to win this game comfortably considering the opposition and with Paton in goals only  having a single superb save in the first half to contend with. McDevitt was awarded man of the match for a superb performance but it has to be said all of the Templeton players worked to grind out this result. Templetons play at home next week against Elderslie in the West of Scotland cup round 6 following that it's the quarter finals.

Man of the Match : Steven McDevitt  Goals. Campbell

Templeton 2 v Elderslie 0

18th  March 2006

 West of Scotland Cup

Templeton came up against Elderlie in the last 16 of the West of Scotland cup. Temps were soon in their stride against a very physical and strong Elderslie side, Dearie was first to test the keeper followed by Beanzie and Malcolmson, the Elderslie keeper at this point was in superb form. The battle again was midfield with the Elderslie side trying to muscle Templeton's off the ball but Mcdevitt, Muir and Campbell dug in and scrapped showing their fighting spirit. Kennedy again was in defence with Mitch and Queenie closing down all the opposition moves. Anderson came close with a free kick as a even first half drew to an end. The 2nd half found Dearie and Malcolmson causing problems again with Beanzie breaking from the middle.... and then the breakthrough with Dearie finding himself  turning the defence with a through ball from the midfield, a sense of offside but the Ref allowed play to continue, with Dearie striking a volley past the diving keeper, what a goal! The relief was tangible after all the pressure, within minutes Paton had to block a couple of shots with one outstanding save put for a corner, we though he should have held it....! Templeton's worked again through the midfield with McD involved in everything dominating the area with Kennedy and Marv sweeping everything else. Following a good move down the right Dearie found himself in a shooting position with a save and clearance from Elderslie, only to Beanzie, who was 25 yards out and lobbed it over the Elderslie defence and goalie, another cracker ..... 2-0. The game was finished after that with Temps bringing on Charters and Mulligan with the latter having a shot which went extremely wide!!!!! The game finished with Templeton's comfortably in control against a very good Elderslie team with the midfield battles dying out as the finish came closer.  The Elderslie manager visited the dressing room to congratulate Templeton's as a good football side and wished them best of luck for the next round. Templeton Albert now play Colville Park who's manager was watching the game , at the Green next Saturday in the quarter finals of the West of Scotland cup.

Man of the Match : " The Team " . Goals. Dearie. Cleary.

Templeton  1 v Colville 2 Aet

25th  March 2006

 West of Scotland Cup

Templeton went out of the National competition to Colville Park in extra time as the away team scored from a free kick with 3 minutes left on the board. At the start both teams started at a frantic pace with Templeton's playing some good football. Against a very professional Colville side Templeton's took an early lead through Dearie after a move involving Mitch and Beanzie. Templeton were in full flow and dominating the game and controlling the midfield but as the break approached Colville levelled the score, Temps again paying for some missed chances in the first half. The second half was a more even affair but Templeton's still squandering good chances to take the lead. Extra time loomed and with no difference between the sides and extra 30 minutes was played. Again Templeton's had a few chances to lead but bad finishing and some great defending by Colville kept the score level until 3 minutes from time when a soft free kick was converted to give Colville the lead. Templeton's would  ruin the missed chances in the game as Colville went through to the quarter finals of the West of Scotland Cup.

Man of the Match :  Michael Kennedy. Goals. Dearie.

Strath Univ 1 v Templeton  3

1st  April 2006

 League Cup

Templeton played their last game in the qualifying section against last years holders Strathclyde. Anything other than a win would mean almost certain dismissal from this competition. Temps got off to a great start within 5 minutes when Campbell scored from a corner. Templeton's went on to dominate the first half without adding to their tally, a feature which most people are aware of this season. From a good move from Univ Templeton's defence allowed a few passes to be combined then a cross for Strathclyde to bring themselves back into a game which should have been well finished by half time. The second half got off to a scorcher after the manager had burned the ears of the players at the break with Dearie scoring within 2 minutes of the start, a great individual goal. The pressure continued and within 15 minutes Campbell had headed in his second goal of the game from a sweet cross. Templeton's were pushing from all sides from Beanzie and Gallagher to Mitch and Muir all having shots saved by the University keeper. This game was 3 going on 8 as the University defence stood solid. Templeton's now play Eat Kilbride United in the quarter finals, the first meeting for this team against a top division team, worth looking forward to. Next week Templeton's play at home against Weirs in the league, the pressure keeps building !!!

Man of the Match :  Matt Campbell. Goals. Dearie/Campbell (2).

 Templeton  7 v Weirs 0

8th  April 2006

 League

Templeton had revenge on their mind when they played Weirs in the league game as they have been the only team to beat Temps this year. After having their noses rubbed in the defeat the team started off the demolition which ended in knocking Weirs for 7. In a fast 15 minutes the Referee was under a lot of pressure from the Weirs camp but controlled the game well and fairly. Temps Dearie had the ball in the net to be ruled offside but within minutes was awarded a penalty after being brought down,1 up and a great start. This was followed by goals from Campbell,  Mitchell, Gallagher and Reilly which ended Weirs challenge. Kennedy was controlling midfield with Beanzie and with Charters, Mitchell and Queenie rarely having a problem which allowed Mcdevitt to show his skill to overcome the Weir's midfield .... well done Stevie.  Payton in goal was rarely tested in a one sided game. In the 2nd half a sublime chip from Campbell was the pick of the goals with Beanzie finishing off the goalscorers for Temps. Man of the match Kennedy continued to take control of the midfield with subs Hughsie and Mulligan having a comfortable game. Peter van Hughsie had his first touch banged over the bar where it looked easier to score, no doubting the tit of the week Paul.....  a good afternoon for the Templeton's team with the next game on Wednesday at home to Orchard Park as the midweek games come in. On this form it will be hard to keep up with this team but the pressure continues for the league title. No game at the weekend as Easter break. Man of the match Kennedy with Campbells chip the pick of the goals, well done Templeton.

Man of the Match :  Michael Kennedy. Goals. Dearie/Campbell (2)/Reilly/Cleary/Gallagher/Mitchell.

 Templeton  3 v  Orchard Park 1

12th  April 2006

 League

Templeton went head to head with the top team and by all events won well with a 3-1 scoreline in their first midweek game as the season comes to a finish. Goals were scored by Des Anderson and by top goal scorer Eddie Dearie with 2 goals. Templeton are top of the league and could win the title within the next couple of weeks if they continue this form. Next game is against St Thomas at home in midweek.

Man of the Match :  Eddie Dearie. Goals. Dearie (2) / Anderson.

 Templeton  2  v  St Thomas 0

19th  April 2006

 League

Templeton came up against a stubborn St Thomas side in this midweek game and toiled to overcome them when it should have been easier. From the whistle Mcdevitt was picked on by a over zealous referee who constantly stopped the match and was equally bad for both teams, the defence of Mitch, Quennie, Campbell and Charters took control with an early save from Paton in goal keeping the score level. Kennedy was again pulling strings in the mid while Reilly and Dearie caused problems to the St Tam defence. Shots from Dearie, Reilly and Beanzie all went close. Anderson on the wing kept the ball swinging in but with no takers in the early stages. Templeton were awarded a corner and from the cross a first time volley by Dearie from 15 yards went crashing into the net. St Tams came back and pressured Templeton's but half time came and went and the pressure continued. Templeton's defence was under pressure but holding well, then the referee cautioned McDevitt for a hand ball and then a red card for abusive language, even the St Tam players tried to speak to the Ref without success, a man down and still 15 minutes to play. Templeton re jigged the team and St Tams moved forward which allowed space at the back for Dearie to score a 2nd from a cross, game over. Muir and Mulligan added a bit of steel to the midfield and at the end  a comfortable win for Templeton. A step closer to the league title but a very tired side who need to be aware the title has not been won yet! Man of the match was Danny Charters for a solid defensive game, well done Danny. Next game on Saturday is at home to Lennox in the league.

Man of the Match :  Danny Charters. Goals Dearie (2).

 Templeton  4  v  Lennox 1

22nd  April 2006

 League

Templeton game against Lennox got off to a flyer within 5 minutes Dearie had put the home team ahead in the background of fixture pile ups and cup competitions Templeton's will have a hard run in, so the important object is to finish games off as early as possible. It took minutes for the 2nd and 3rd goals to arrive as Templeton dominated the play, goals from Dearie and Beanzie settle the team to play open football but as the game progressed they could not step the pace back up again when needed. Paton in goal had a couple of good stops then allowed a silly goal to revive Lennox. Paton earned the praise in the 2nd half with a couple of superb saves affirming our view that he is one of the best goalkeepers around. McDevitt and Campbell were in control with Charters again strolling through his game. The other defenders Mitch and Queenie were also in control and with Kennedy, Clearie and Anderson supplying Reilly and Dearie it was a good fluid performace.3-1 at half time and the game under control subs were used as the Ref started to brandish cards, to late for Campbell for speaking out of turn as he was red carded, the game is being ruined by the standard of these officials. Templeton's held on with a goal from Brogan with his first touch after coming on as sub, his first for the club he has went from tit of the week to hero, well done Paul. The game finished with Temps well ahead and with other results being drawn it takes Templeton closer to winning the League title. No games in midweek due to fixture build up this week.Man of the match was Ediie Dearie as he strides towards the top goalscorer for this season

Man of the Match :  Eddie Dearie. Goals Dearie (2) / Clearie / Brogan.

 Templeton  3  v  E K United 0

29th  April 2006

 League Cup 1/4

Templeton's "Jose Anderson Murihno" and his Motley crew went into another game having a hard time to pick from a consistent squad but once again he will not have the worry for long as another Ref allowed tackles which sidelined 2 players without cards but Templeton pick up 3 for talking......no wonder teams are leaving this league! This was Temps first game against a 1st Division team where to gauge their level for next year. Within 5 minutes Dearie had put Temps in front from a hard worked effort right through the away defence and into the net. Great start and with another to follow from a Beanzie cross it was over as a game early first half. Paton in goals was a spectator with Queenie,Mitch,Charters and man of the match Campbell solid, when you look at the statistics....scored 50 lost 19, best in the GGPL..... Mcdevitt and Beanzie were controlling midfield with Kennedy again pulling the strings.Up front Hughsy and Dearie were constant threats as they burst through numerous times with Anderson firing shots and crosses at will. In the 2nd half subs Div, Mulligan and Algie caused a new threat, the strength of this team is the pool are all equally good!! Within minutes Div collected a ball just inside the half and moved forward, took on the defence and chipped the gaolie for a superb 3rd, game over. Templeton now play Stedfast in the semi but before that a league game against Orchard Park on Thurday away and Cambuslang away on Saturday as the league primes itself for a great finish from Templetons. Man of the match Mat Campbell with Dearie and Beanzie running him close as the team performance increases every week.

Man of the Match :  Mat Campbell. Goals Dearie (2) / McKay.

 Orchard Park 1 v Templeton 1

4th  May 2006

 League

Templeton's final run had a visit to 2nd top team Orchard Park. Straight from the kick off Park looked well up for the match to establish a late challenge to Templeton's. Dearie had a few golden opportunities but failed to complete and with Park pushing over the 90 minutes a good football game was enjoyed by all. Dearie "the goal scorers " for this year converted again to add to his total. Another vital point for Templeton's as they complete a 4 game a week run in................. Cambuslang on Saturday. Man of the match given to the Team as the group go from strength to strength......

Man of the Match :  " The Team ". Goals Dearie.

 Cambuslang 1 v Templeton 4

6th  May 2006

 League

Templeton's came up against another of the leagues top teams in Cambuslang, who had the chance of possible 2nd place. Right from the kick off both teams fought for the midfield with the Templeton forward line again causing problems with their speed. Within a 20 minute spell Templeton had run through on various occasions without being caught offside.... and have to agree with the Ref as he took a bit of stick.... Clearie opened the scoring with Dearie missing a good couple of chances early doors. This was followed up by a corner and headed into the top corner by Campbell. Beazie again ran through and finished off the game as a contest with his 2nd goal. Midfield with McDevitt, Charters and Beanzie assisted with Reilly and Mulligan competed on every tackle, Kennedy was suspended with Queenie and Gallagher and Muir all missing. 2nd half was off to a flyer with a individual superb goal from Hughsey who scored from close in after taking on the Cambuslang defence. As the game died as a contest, Div came on as sub as Templeton's management rested a couple of the players due to the game pile up this week. Templeton play St Thomas on Monday with Hamilton on Wednesday in the league.Man of the match was Campbell who had another excellent game.

Man of the Match :  Matt Campbell. Goals Clearie ( 2 ) / Campbell / Brogan.

 St Thomas 2 v Templeton 4

8th  May 2006

 League

Templeton's won against a very good St Thomas side who still have promotion in sight. Templeton were in easy street in the first half with a 3 goal lead through Dearie and Div with Reilly completing the 4th following a 2nd from Div. St Thomas came back into the game following the 2nd half as Templeton took their foot of the gas but the result leads Templeton's into their next game against Hamilton needing a win to take the 2nd division title. Man of the match was Steven McDevitt.

Man of the Match :  Steven McDevitt.  Goals: Dearie / Div ( 2 ) / Reilly.

Templeton 7 v Hamilton 0

10th  May 2006

 League

Templeton's went into this game requiring a win for the 2nd Division title with 5 games left to play. From the kick off Templetons went into the lead with an own goal and others from Dearie, Beanzie and Kennedy. a final goal in a fast paced first half was from Kennedy to finish this as a contest. In the 2nd half other goals from Anderson, Mitch with a header and Campell finished the game on a high for Templetons but a very worried Hamilton team need to lift themselves for next week. Man of the match was awarded to the Team as a reflection on their consistency. Another game away tomorrow night as the fixture pile up continues with Steadfast in the Challenge cup quarter final away.

Man of the Match : The Team. Goals: Dearie / Div ( 2 ) / Reilly.

Steadfast 3 v Templeton 0

11th  May 2006

 Challenge Cup 1/4

Templeton's lost to a very good and well organized Steadfast team in the cup last night. A tired group of players were playing their 5th game in as many days and it took it's toll. Little pressure was put on the home defence as Templeton's failed to muster any constructive forward play. This lead to a opening goal by Steadfast in the 2nd half early on with Temps defence posted missing. The only effort from Templeton's was well saved by the Steadfast goalie. Following this opener Templeton pushed forward which left the defence open and a very active Steadfast forward line put them to the sword with a 2nd goal. A 3rd was added courtesy of the Referee when players stopped as the ball went out for a throw in but the ref ignored the sideline and allowed play to continue, game over. Steadfast won well with Templeton's learning the 1st division next year will be hard to win. The Ref, well what can we say that has not been spoken about on forums before. Templeton play Rannoch in the league away on Saturday.

Man of the Match : Steven McDevitt. . Goals:

Rannoch 1 v Templeton 4

13th  May 2006

 League

Templeton's went into this game winners of the league and Rannoch demoted, with little apart from pride to play for both teams set about a entertaining game without pressure. Temps had a few suspensions and injuries which led to Paton playing as centre forward and Reilly as centre half, Midfield and winger.......Early goals from Charters and Paton and Hughsy settled the game with Paul scoring again in the 2nd half. Defensive partnerships were Kennedy and Beanzie with "Twinkle toes  Sneddon". Hard man Sneddon returned for a cameo role as a player but better known as the " East end butcher" blazed his way to glory as man of the match. Twinkle toes and Kennedy were solid until Kennedy was subbed for having a shot which went extremely wide and the match ball was lost!! Queenie senior replaced Kennedy and the average age of the team jumped up to 40!! As a game this was a typical end of season affair with Templetons having a away game to Hamilton on Monday with a home game with Bishopton on Wednesday and a semi final on Friday.Man of the Match " Twinkle toes Sneddon"

Man of the Match : Brian Sneddon . Goals: Hughsy ( 2 ) / R.Charters / Paton.

Hamilton 2 v Templeton 2

15th  May 2006

 League

Templeton's played on a wet night against Hamilton but the football considering the conditions was excellent. Right from the off Templeton scored through Hughsey, becoming a regular this..... with efforts from Kennedy and Clearie and Mitch all just going wide. The 2nd goal was added when Beanzie ran onto a through ball perfect finish and 2 up and strolling at half time. Changes in the 2nd half with Paton being replaced with Graham and some minor tinkering in midfield unsettled Temps for a short spell but enough to allow Hamilton to score a sloppy goal from Templetons point of view. With the conditions worsening the ball was slipping and running on every bounce and with Temps playing some nice football, but overplaying it, Hamilton took advantage of a lose ball to equalise. Templeton's could never get back in the game but Hamilton deserved their point, which may save them from relegation this year. Templeton play Bishopton on Wednesday and every game is a contest due to the other teams fighting for promotion and relegation, no easy matches this year.

Man of the Match : Brogan  . Goals: Brogan / Clearie

 Templeton 3v  Bishopton 1

17th  May 2006

 League

Templeton's punishing schedule in the league continued with the least encounter between these 2 sides . Templeton strood into a deserved lead within the first half with goals from Reilly and Brian Smith. This was added to by Mark Muir who had another excellent game along with Danny Charters.Bishopton gained a goal back in the 2nd half but as a contest the game was well over. Man of the match Danny Charters.

Man of the Match :  Danny Charters. Goals: Reilly / Smith / Muir.

 Stedfast 5 v Templeton 1

19th  May 2006

 League Cup Semi

Templeton's attempt to win their last competitive cup game for this year went amiss against a good Steadfast side who gave Temps their heaviest defeat this year. By all accounts the Templeton boys played good football but with no goals to show and similiar to the last defeat by Steadfast it would cost them dearly. A goal from Mark Muir and with the game coming to the last quarter injuries and a dubious 3rd goal for offside refused laid an end to the Templeton challenge. The old story that their was never 5 goals in the game rings true but we wish Steadfast the best in the finals. Ma of the match was Mark Muir.

Man of the Match :  Mark Muir. Goals: Mark Muir.

 Templeton 3 v  Bannerman 2

20th  May 2006

 League

Templeton's last game at home to Bannerman for this season saw some excellent football from both teams as a passing game with little pressure. The goals all came from div who looks fresh compared to the team after a long season. Templeton lead at half time and had to soak up some Bannerman pressure in the 2nd half as they took their foot off the pedal. The woodwork saved Temps a couple of times but in the end a comfortable home win with the last game against Glasgow University on Monday night away. Man of the match Div.
